Office of the Commonwealth Attorney 24th Circuit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

24th Judicial Circuit – Lawrence County, Kentucky | March 26, 2026

LOUISA, Ky. – Ronnie Booth was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison in Lawrence Circuit Court following a violent domestic incident that occurred on Christmas Eve of 2024. Under Kentucky law, Booth will be required to serve at least 85% of that sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

The sentencing in Lawrence Circuit Indictment No. 25-CR-00116 follows an investigation into an assault where Booth attacked his sister with a glass candle, breaking her nose. During the assault, Booth also held the victim against her will and threatened her with a machete.
Booth was convicted on the following charges:

• Assault, 1st Degree – Domestic Violence;

• Unlawful Imprisonment, 1st Degree; and

• Terroristic Threatening, 3rd Degree.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kyle Newsome of the 24th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. “Violence of this nature, especially against a family member, will not be tolerated in our community,” said Mr. Newsome. “We are grateful for the victim’s bravery and for the thorough investigation that ensured justice was served.”

The successful prosecution of this case was made possible through the investigative work of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. Credit is given to Sheriff Chuck Jackson and Deputy Tyler Laney for their response and dedication to the safety of Lawrence County residents.
