LC TOURISM DRAWS NAMES FOR BURGER WEEK WINNERS…

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission had a Regular Scheduled Meeting on  Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Fred M. Vinson Museum, 315 E. Madison Street, Downtown, 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky 41230 at 5:30PM.  LC Tourism Commissioner Wes Kingsmore was in attendance. Members in attendance were Brenda Hardwick, Debbie Hill, Susie Chambers, Chris Jobe, Christy Moore and Thomas Bradley. Others attending were Jenna Sue Sammons, and Kate Cecil.

IT COMMITTEE

The IT Committee includes Jenna Sue Sammons and Kate Cecil. This committee works to create computer programs that will help the Tourism with its advertising on social media.

LC FAIR JULY 25-26

The Lawrence County Fair has already started with Pickleball and the Beauty Pageant last weekend and Cowboy Church will start Thursday night. Everyone is Welcome to come out and enjoy the fun at the Lawrence County Fair.

BURGER WEEK 

Well another Burger Week is behind us, all participating restaurants had fun and helped boost the economy for small business restaurants also. The members of Tourism unanimously agreed to purchase a grill. Motion by Thomas Bradley seconded by Debbie Hill.

  1. Cade Cyrus – Gift card for Opell Meats
  2. Cody Henderson – Gift card for Opell Meats
  3. Lisa Gamsby – Grill

APPROVE MINUTES FOR MAY MEETING

The May Minutes were unanimously approved with a Motion by Chris Jobe seconded by Debbie Hill.

APPROVE FINANCIAL REPORT FOR MAY MEETING

The May Financial Report was unanimously approved with a Motion by Susie Chambers seconded by Debbie Hill.

FOOTBALL SEASON RADIO ADVERTISEMENT 

There was discussion about making a commercial, advertising the LC Tourism Commission from August to November during football season. The total cost will be $1,100.00 and Tourism will pay $275 a month. Motion by Chris Jobe seconded by Christy Moore. None Opposed.

MUSIC IN THE GARDEN 

There was discussion about having music events that coincide with the Garden Theater events. Motion was made to pay up to $1,000 towards the events by Christy Moore seconded by Susie Chambers.

Lawrence County Tourism Meeting, June 16, 2025

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 5:30 pm in the Fred Vinson Tourism Office. Members in attendance were Wes Kingsmore, Brenda Hardwick, Debbie Hill, Chris Jobe, Tom Bradley and Susie Chambers. Others attending were Johnda Barker, Sandy Jobe and Susan Salyer. We also welcomed IT committee member Kate Cecil to her first meeting.

Wes called the meeting to order and Tom gave the opening prayer.

Old business: 1) Great crowd for Kids fishing day at Yatesville Lake, around 88 kids attended, Tourism partnered with Rotary on this event and Browns donated the hot dogs and buns. 2) Fred Vinson Day is Friday, June 27th with open house at 10:00 am 3) Bridge Day is also June 27th at 6 pm with a walk across the bridge and music and food trucks on the street in front of Fred Vinson Museum during the evening. The Street will be blocked off and music by Liv & the Syndicate 606. 4) 4th of July parade at 11 am followed by bluegrass music in the Main St Park. Fireworks at dark. 5) LC Fair July 25-26.

6) Burger Days from June 20 – July 4.

Motion to approve May minutes made by Chris with a second by Brenda. All in favor. Motion to approve May financial report made by Susie with a second by Debbie. Balance as of May 30 was $24,934.62. All in favor.

Creekside Cabins and Fallsburg Fire Dept. event on Saturday, July 5th. With a motion by Susie and a second by Tom we voted to go from a $1,500 donation to $2,000 for this year. All in favor. Quilting in the Mns runs from July 11 – July 19. With a motion by Brenda and a second by Debbie we voted to give $500 for this event. All in favor. We also voted to donate $1,300 to the July 4th bluegrass music with a motion by Chris and a second by Brenda. All in favor. Our last business of the evening was a vote to give $3,000 for the Louisa 4th of July fireworks display with a motion by Susie and a second by Tom. All in favor.

Motion to adjourn was made by Tom with a second by Susie. All in favor.

Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday, July 21.
