“Lawrence County is seeing a significant increase in COVID-19 cases. At the beginning of July, Lawrence County had recorded eight (8) positive cases. To date in July, we have recorded 17 cases. We will report six (6) additional cases today bringing the total to 31. Some are symptomatic and some are asymptomatic. According to our investigations, none of these cases have been vacation travel related. What we are seeing is happening right here in Lawrence County – churches, funerals, family and friends gathering together and not taking the proper precautions.
Lawrence County Health Department’s mission is to promote, improve, and protect community health and well-being through education, prevention, and response. That mission has never been more important than right now.
As public health director, I am asking – I am begging – every Lawrence County resident to please wear a facial covering as mandated by Governor Beshear. Along with social distancing and hand hygiene, it is the best measure available to prevent the spread of this virus.
I want to get back to life as usual just as much as the next person. I haven’t seen my daughter since Christmas. But I also want to make sure my 87-year-old mother does not contract the virus. I know most of you would give the shirt off your back to help someone in need. So instead of taking off your shirt, put on a mask and show how much you care about your family, friends and neighbors.”
Thank you!

Lawrence County is not alone by far as neighboring Johnson County has also seen a significant rise in the number of cases reported.
“July 26, 2020 – Today is the first day Johnson County has reported multiple positive cases in the same day. We have 4 new cases today – a 20 year old symptomatic male, a 20 year old symptomatic female, a 55 year old asymptomatic female, and a 36 year old symptomatic male. All are isolating at home and contacts have been notified and quarantined. Today’s cases bring the total count for Johnson County to 25,” A report on the Johnson Co. Health Dept. Health Dept. said.
In Martin County at least nine cases have been reported in the past week.
As of 3 p.m. July 26, Gov. Andy Beshear said there were at least 27,079 coronavirus cases in Kentucky, 316 of which were newly reported Sunday. Eight new cases were from children ages 5 and younger.
“Kentucky is in that spot now where if we don’t act, we will look a lot like states in the South that are facing devastating consequences,” said Gov. Beshear. “Thankfully today’s numbers are lower than what we’ve seen recently, but we know less testing comes in on Sundays.”
An important announcement is expected at 4pm today outlining new action by the state government which will affect all Kentuckians, a preliminary report said this morning.
Craziness. In the beginning when all this started LC didn’t have any cases and now it’s getting bad. Every other day is the pattern it seems! I don’t want to get it and give it to any of my family members and they die…
I would to hear how all of these people are catching it..
Pray a miracle happens!

And Uncle Andy said “go home and hunker down for a couple weeks and let it pass” says the young clown.
Wear a mask wear a mask don’t go out of state don’t go to large gatherings
Wear a mask wear a mask don’t go out of state don’t go to large gatherings
Act like an adult
The surge lies with everyone just going EVERYWHERE all summer, passing it around. Sadly, some won’t learn until it’s too late! No one cares enough about any one else. All they care about is THEIR freedom, THEIR rights. How is your freedom being taken away by wearing a mask and not traveling around the countryside like nothing is going on for a time?! It’s not forever, just for a time for safety.
The fact that I’m racist doesnt bother me at all, so go ahead and say it.
So it’s safe to send kids to school after all these cases and places have a “spike” and going up!?!? Does anyone not see what’s going on here ?!?
People need to stay home and don’t go on vacations, and wear a mask. Stop having parties! People act like this virus isn’t here. It wasn’t here in the beginning but you have people that think it’s ok to go to Florida, South Carolina and that’s why we have it now!
Yeah it would be nice to take a vacation but how could you enjoy it! It’s every other day LC has a new case or more!
Who knows if it’s safe to send kids to school!
Hydroxy chloroquine, Zinc, vitamin c, Zithromax according to American Frontline Doctors will stop Sars covid 2.
Maybe Covid 2 but this is COVID 19. So you go ahead run around have a great time with the other idiots and then take those meds for the cure. Please be sure to tell who ever is responsible for your obit to include how that cure worked for you
Thank you Debbie Miller!! 🙏
“we are in a good place right now”

“I’ll fix the pension system” says the young goofball!! Why didn’t his daddy fix it instead of taking money from it???
OMGOSH!!!! It’s getting more weird than I thought it would!!! Don’t wear a stupid mask people!!!!! Believe n God & live your own life!!!! Start a garden if you haven’t already!!!!!
I’m a proud Republican, and a strong supporter of President Trump. However none of us know if this virus, plague or whatever it actually is, is going away or here to stay? That includes the President, Governor Longneck, you or myself? This could take thousands of lives (already has), or billions, or all. The way we took a perfect world given us by God and totally destroyed it, perhaps we deserve to die? I hate it for the little ones, the innocent and the helpless. Maybe it will be gone in a short time…I don’t have a clue, and none of you do either. I saw my own county go from 1 case in April to 298 as of today. I do notice that areas close to an Interstate Hwy have a lot more cases, so travel is playing a part. I hope God will intercede, because anyone less will fail. Perhaps Terry said it best?
Keep safe I’m here in Washington and it looks like something out of a movie no matter where we go everyone is in masks all the time in public. The faster everyone cooperates the faster life can have some normalcy.
