4.A. Superintendent’s Update
4.A.1. The LCHS Softball team won the regional championship and represented Lawrence County very well at the state tournament.
4.A.2. Lawrence County Schools closes the year with a slightly higher attendance percentage than last year. (90.02% for 2022-2023 with ADA at 2097.27; 90.73% for 2023 – 2024 at 2070.69 – NOTE: All funding projections for raises were calculated at a ceiling of 2050 ADA.). Great work by Mrs. Prince.
4.A.3. Mr. Colvin, Mr. Boggs, and Mr. Burns have continued the work on the walkway that moves students away from traffic during high school dismissal. Mr. Burns has also led the work on the LCHS Vocational Annex, the LMS roof replacement, and many other projects.
4.A.4. Mary Hall is retiring as our Director of Federal Programs, District Assessment Coordinator, and other titles and has led the work on restructuring our FRYSC centers.
4.A.5. Mrs. Colvin has done an excellent job recruiting for our speech pathology positions.
4.A.6. Mrs. Peters completed the work on our tentative budget which reflects a 3.9% contingency for next year.
4.A.7. Congratulations to all of our managers (Mrs. Adkins, Mr. McClanahan, Mr. Colvin, Mrs. Farley, Mr. Blackburn, Mrs. Wellman, and Mrs. Mullins) for closing out another great year.
4.A.8. Congratulations to our Board of Education on their hire of Mrs. Katie Webb as the Superintendent of Lawrence County Schools, effective July 1, 2024.
