From 12:01 A.M. May 15 thru to 11:59 P.M., May 22, there were at least 88 individuals who were arrested and lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Out of those 88 or so, 19 of those arrested were from Lawrence County.
As of 8:00 A.M., Tuesday morning May 29, there were 339 inmates lodged at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville; in which the maximum designated capacity for the BSRDC is to hold 225 inmates. That is just over 50% overcapacity. For comparison, the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, Kentucky, as of 8 A.M. Tuesday morning, May 29, has 383 inmates booked, in a facility that designated maximum capacity is for 400 inmates. That is at almost 96% of capacity.
Another 3 Lawrence County residents were arrested elsewhere: 2 in Johnson County and 1 Louisa female resident was arrested all the way down in Horry County, South Carolina (which is in the Myrtle Beach area) along with a West Virginia man who was with her.
The names and criminal charges of the latest 19 Lawrence County arrests ( and the 3 out of county arrests) are the following:
Lloyd Brown, 47, of Louisa, was arrested on May 15,2018, at 1:31 P.M., by patrolman officer Steven Wilburn of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with: • FUGITIVE FROM ANOTHER STATE – WARRANT REQUIRED.
Connie J. Workman, 57, of Louisa, was taken into custody and booked on May 15, 2018, at 4:54 P.M., and May 22, 2018, at 4:50 P.M., in the Lawrence County Court, by the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, to serve a guilty plea jail sentences: • CONTEMPT OF COURT LIBEL/SLANDER RESISTANCE TO ORDER.
Jason D. Meadows, 34, of Louisa, was arrested on May 16, 2018, at 1:31 P.M., by patrolman officer Steven Wilburn of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with: • FUGITIVE FROM ANOTHER STATE – WARRANT REQUIRED, • FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 2ND DEGREE (MOTOR VEHICLE).
April Ann Harper, 34, of Louisa, was arrested on May 16, 2018, at 7:22 P.M., by patrolman officer Steven Wilburn of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with: • TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – ( < 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE), • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS, • PROBATION VIOLATION (FOR FELONY OFFENSE).
Shannon L.
