Lawrence Co. upended in District 58 final by Floyd Central; Move to Region 15

Prestonsburg, Ky. —  In the Boys 58th District title game it was Floyd Central defeating Lawrence Co. 71-57 on Thursday at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse. 

58th District Player of the Year 

Principal Myram Brady, Andrew Bloomfield, Superintendent Robbie Fletcher 

 

All 58th District team members

Gunnar Woods, Luke Fetherolf, Blake Marcum, Logan Ratliff 

Andrew Bloomfield was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 21 points, Hayden Perry hit 4 three pointers and finished with 17 points, Luke Fetherolf added 7 points, Logan Ratliff and Blake Marcum had 4 points each, Gunnar Woods netted 3 points and Ford Scaggs chipped in with 2 points.

The Bulldogs hit 8 three pointers and went 7 of 14 from the free throw line. 

Floyd Central was led by Ronnie Sammons with 23 points, Braden Moore 15 points, Chris Spriggs 13 points, Dylan Boyd and Dawson Moore 7 points each and Brody Buck 6 points. 

The Jaguars hit 3 three pointers and went 18 of 26 from the free throw line. 

FCHS 15 8 22 26 = 71 

LCHS 11 19 8 19 = 57 

The Bulldogs will host Paintsville on Saturday at 7:30 in the Super Region. The winner will play Pikeville at the Appalachian Wireless Arena Wednesday March 6th at 6:30.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Tough loss to a really good Floyd Central team Thursday night. It is a hard pill to swallow but hats off to them for playing a really good game. Our boys are excited for the opportunity to bounce back tonight at home in the first round of the super region. Everyone come support these guys at LCHS at 7:30 tonight!” 

 

UPDATE:

The Dawgs beat Paintsville in the Super Region Playoff Saturday at LCHS 82-62 and will play tournament favorite Pikeville Wednesday at the Expo Arena in Pikeville next.
