Bulldogs coming off great season, return 9 seniors
REPEAT!
Louisa, Ky — Coming off of another 20 win season the defending district and region champion Lawrence Co. Bulldogs will be gunning for another trip to Applebee’s Park in Lexington for the baseball state tournament in June. LC lost to Greenup Co. 5-2 in the first round last year.
The 2016 version will return six starters and will have nine seniors on the roster.
Head Coach Travis Feltner is entering his 8th season at the helm of the Bulldogs and is looking forward to another successful season in Louisa.
The Dawgs are off to a 4-3 start to this young season and 2-0 in 60th district play.
Seniors Austin Bailey and Andrew Wheeler have been very good on the mound so far ad fellow seniors Chase Coverdale and Brock Turner have been tearing the cover off the baseball. Senior Morgan Miller and sophomore Peyton Cyrus have been setting the table for the middle of the order, coach Feltner said..
Sophomore Brad Parks is solid at the hot corner and senior Zach Keesee has been playing well even though he isn’t 100% after being injured during football season.
Senior Drake Barager has done a good job in centerfield and just lost a heartbreaker at Wayne on Friday 1-0 on the mound.
Lawrence Co. is the favorite once again in the 60th district followed by Belfry, Pike Co. Central and Phelps.
In the 15th region it will be a three team race between Lawrence Co. Johnson Central and Magoffin Co. with Pikeville and Sheldon Clark not far behind.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“…Been really inconsistent so far, not catching the ball like I thought we would and that has been frustrating.” We are 2-0 in district play so that is a plus, our schedule is always tough and we try to get our kids prepared for post season.” In two of our losses we have committed way too many errors and that is not Lawrence Co. baseball, we pride ourselves on defense.”
