LAWRENCE CO. SOFTBALL OPENS IN CLASS 2A STATE TOURNAMENT FRIDAY

Louisa, Ky. —  Lawrence Co. Softball will head to the Class 2A State Tournament this weekend with a perfect 17-0 record.

Brooklyn Ellis and Taylor Blevins combined for a five inning one hitter against the Lions at Home. 

Brooklyn Ellis hit her fourth homer of the year against Elliott Co.

Abby Nelson had three hits including a double and a triple and scored two runs, Dani Crum had three hits and scored twice, Jada Patton had two hits, drove in two and scored twice, Hallie Adkins singled, had three RBIs and scored once, Bree Jones singled and scored a run. Abby Maynard had one RBI and Ella Smith scored a run. 

Lawrence Co. 15 Prestonsburg 0 ( Monday ) 

Ella Smith tossed a perfect game as the Bulldogs mercied the Blackcats in three innings at Home. 

Smith faced nine batters and retired all nine while striking out two. 

Gracie Preece had two hits including a double, drove in four runs and scored twice, Brooklyn Ellis had two hits including a double, drove in three and scored a run, Abby Nelson doubled, drove in two and scored twice, Jada Patton and Addalyn Woods had two hits, two runs batted in and scored twice each, Bree Jones and Dani Crum had two hits and scored twice each, Jaylee Maxie singled, drove in two runs and scored once and Hallie Adkins singled and scored once. 

8th Grader Hallie Adkins has been steady at the plate and at second base all year. 

Lawrence Co. will travel to Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro to play in the Class 2A State Tournament beginning on Friday at 2:00 against Warren East ( 14-7 ).

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… On Monday against Prestonsburg it was a really well thrown game by Ella Smith, her first perfect game of her high school career. Gracie Preece drove in 4 runs, and the whole lineup hit. Good team win.” 

“… On Wednesday versus Elliott Co.  Brooklyn Ellis and Taylor Blevins split pitching duties for the shutout. Ellis hit her 4th Homer of the year. Hallie Adkins drove in 3 runs and a solid game for us overall. We travel Thursday for a Friday meeting with Warren East on Friday 2pm CST in Owensboro.”
