Lawrence Co. Softball Goes 3-1 on Annual Myrtle Beach Trip

Myrtle Beach, SC. — The Lawrence Co. Softball Dawgs went 3-1 on their annual Myrtle Beach trip at the Cal Ripken Experience on Spring Break. 

 

2025 Bulldog Sophomore

Baleigh Blackburn, Leah Blackburn, Millie Sammons

Butler ( OH ) 10 Lawrence Co. 0 

The Dawgs ( 8-1 ) suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday morning. Bree Jones, Jada Patton and Lexie Crum all singled for the Dawgs as they only mustered three hits in the loss. Ella Smith suffered the loss in the circle going two innings and allowing eight runs on six hits. Braylee Triplett pitched two innings and gave up two hits and one run. Brinley Baisden gave up one run and two hits as well. 

Lawrence Co. 7 Padua Franciscan ( OH ) 4

Lawrence Co. moved to 3-0 on Spring Break with the victory over a team from Cleveland. Jada Patton had three hits, one run batted in and scored two runs, Gracie Preece had two hits including a double and drove in two runs, Addalyn Woods had two hits, drove in a run and scored two runs, Bree Jones had two hits and one RBI, Abby Maynard had one hit, Lexie Crum had one RBI, Emmalyn Kitts, Braylee Triplett and Brinley Baisden scored a run each. Taylor Blevins went the distance in the circle and struck out nine, allowed eight hits and three earned runs to get the win. 

2025 Bulldog Frosh

Madison Nix, Aleaha Gillispie, Addalyn Woods, Jada Patton, Addison Bowen, Lexie Crum, Emalynn Kitts 

Lawrence Co. 6 Tri-County North ( OH ) 5 

Gracie Preece singled home Jada Patton with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap off a wild comeback victory for the Dawgs. Lawrence County trailed 5-0 going to the bottom of the third inning before scoring three in the third, two runs in the sixth to tie and then winning it in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ella Smith went 6 and 1/3 innings before giving way to Brinley Baisden and Aleaha Gillispie who pitched 1 and 2/3 of scoreless softball. Preece had two hits, two runs batted in and scored a run, Taylor Blevins had two hits, one RBI and one run scored, Bree Jones doubled, drove in one and scored a run, Addalyn Woods had two runs batted in, Jada Patton scored two runs. 

Lawrence Co. 3 Butler ( OH ) 2 

In the opening game of Spring Break the Bulldogs won a close one led by Bree Jones who had two hits including an inside the park home run and two runs scored, Addalyn Woods also had two hits including a triple, scored a run and drove it two runs. Taylor Blevins was magnificent in the circle tossing a complete game one hitter while striking out seven to get the win. 

Back to home The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday in the Class 2A Section Tournament at Stonecrest against the winner of Pike Central and Johnson Central.

“… It has been a good start to the trip. We have had different people step up. Had a good pitching performance from Ella Smith against Tri-County. Our bats have not been great but we have done enough to win.”“…We are still a work in progress.”
