HEALTH DEPARTMENT TRANSITIONING WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICES
The Lawrence County Health Department, along with all health departments across Kentucky, is undergoing a major transformation which includes changes in the way we provide many services to our community. As of July 1, 2019, Lawrence County Health Department will no longer provide family planning services such as annual exams, birth control methods and pap smears; and, breast and cervical cancer screenings in our clinic.
These services will still be available through an arrangement with Primary Plus – Ashland located at 432 16th Street in Ashland. Should you need these services, contact them at 606-324-0128. or at www.primaryplus.net.
The health department is committed to assuring that individuals within the communities we serve have access to affordable health and screening programs. Your health is important to us. We encourage everyone to take care of themselves and this includes getting regular cancer screenings as well as access to family planning services such as birth control methods.
The health department will continue to provide pregnancy testing, emergency contraception (Plan B or “morning after pill”), sexually transmitted disease (STD) screenings and treatment, HIV testing and the WIC program along with well child exams and immunizations. Please visit our website at www.lawrencecountyhealthdepartment.com to find out more about the services we offer.
This could make things inconvenient for those who are already struggle with transportation issues! Why Ashland? Why can’t we keep anything local?
