Mount Sterling, Ky. — The Lawrence Co. Bulldogs go 1-1 in the Girls Gateway Holiday Classic at Montgomery Co. High school this week.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-4 with the win in the Gateway Holiday Classic.
All-Tournament member Sophie Adkins led the Bulldogs with 23 points, Kaison Ward tallied 10 points, Jada Patton added 9 points, Leandra Curnutte netted 8 points, Abby Nelson and Abby Maynard had 4 points each, Addison Bloomfield chipped in with 2 points.
Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 12 of 16 from the free throw line.
Hazard ( 7-4 ) was led by Laura Everidge with 16 points, Maddi Frohnapfel had 15 points, Hannah Caudill 14 points, Heidi Bentley 8 points.
The Bulldogs hit 2 three pointers and went 7 of 16 from the charity stripe.

In the first game of the Gateway Holiday Classic the Bluejackets outlasted the Dawgs with a nail biting victory.
The Bulldogs were led by Sophie Adkins with 23 points, Kaison Ward and Leandra Curnutte with 12 points each, Jada Patton tallied 10 points, Abby Nelson scored 4 points and Abby Maynard chipped in with 1 point.
Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 7 of 11 from the foul line.
Nicholas Co. ( 6-3 ) was led by Maggie Simons with 30 points, Tessa Humphries 12 points, Neveah Davis 11 points, Mady Adams 6 points, Caroline Banks 2 points.
The Bluejackets hit 4 three pointers and went 7 of 8 from the free throw line.
The Dawgs will return to action after Christmas break when they will try to defend their Carolina invitational championship in Charleston South Carolina beginning on Thursday.
Lawrence Co. will play;
- Palmetto Christian Academy from Mount Pleasant South Carolina at 5:00.
- On Friday morning they Dawgs will play Cross ( SC ) at 10:30.
- And on Saturday morning at 9:00 they will play Tuscola from Waynesville North Carolina.

“… We had a tough start in the Nicholas county game but battled and gave ourselves a chance to win at the end but just couldn’t get it to fall. I was happy with how they battled and fought til the end.”
“… Against Hazard I was happy to see us get off to a better start. We played much better overall so I’m happy to see us improving every game.”
