Cannonsburg, Ky. — Boyd Co. ( 5-4 ) started fast and never looked back in a 42-20 victory over Lawrence Co. ( 6-3 ) on Friday night.

Conner York looks to make a move.

The Lions led 21-0 before Bulldog running back Connor York plunged into the end zone for a 1 yard touchdown and Brayden Queen added the extra point to make it 21-7 with 5:47 to go in the first half.

Boyd Co. scored two more touchdowns and led 35-7 at halftime.

Early in the fourth quarter Luke Fetherolf hit Carlo Chicko on a screen yard pass that went for a touchdown from 8 yards out and Queen booted the point after to make 42-14 Boyd County.

With under three minutes left in the game Mitchell Frazier hit Braxton Davis for a 17 yard touchdown pass to set the final score of 42-20.

The Dawgs will close out the regular season with a trip to Maysville to face Mason Co. ( 7-2 ) on Friday.

Boyd Co. will close out the regular season with a home game against Pikeville ( 5-4 ) on Friday.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Alan Short

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Obviously, not the result we wanted tonight. For whatever reason we just didn’t have it. Boyd County was dominant from the opening snap.”

“… It is disappointing because we had a great week of preparation. Our coaching staff felt like we were fully prepared. Sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way. That was certainly the case tonight.”

“… We will regroup next week, correct any mistakes, and learn and grow from tonight. We have another huge challenge going to Mason County next week.”
