SPRING SPORTS GETTING READY
Louisa, Ky It is officially Softball/Baseball season in Lawrence Co. and both teams are favored to win the 60th District and are probably top three in the 15th region in both sports.

The two teams got off to a slow start last week which is to be expected this early in the season.
Lawrence Co. 14 Paintsville 5 Baseball
On Tuesday night in the home opener at Randy Keeton field the Dawgs came out swinging as they scored in every inning but one and took out the Tigers 14-5.
Senior Chase Coverdale went 3-5 on the night and provided the power with a home run and two doubles to go along with 4 RBI’s. Senior Zach Keesee came of the bench to go 1-1 with 3 RBI’s.
Sophomore Peyton Cyrus went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Senior Brock Turner 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Winning Pitcher Austin Bailey went four innings on the mound and went 2-5 at the plate with an RBI. Andrew Wheeler, Tristian Johnson, Brad Parks, and Jarrett Fairchild all had 1 hit for the Dawgs.
8th Grader Seth Williams went 3-3 as the Tigers dropped to 0-2 on the young season.
Johnson Central 8 Lawrence Co. 0 Baseball
On Wednesday night it was the golden eagles taking advantage of some poor bulldog defense and coming away with the shutout victory at Randy Keeton field.
Pikeville 8 Lawrence Co. 6
The Dawgs hit the road on Saturday afternoon and suffered back to back losses as the could not overcome the panthers. LC led a couple different times during the game but couldn’t get the timely pitching to put the win away.

” Played pretty well vs Paintsville go a couple big hits and swung the bats good.” Totally different story vs Johnson Central couldn’t catch the ball and when you do that it is tough to win.”
Young Softball Bulldogs get off to rough start
Bulldog Softball team lost two extra inning heartbreakers in Friday night and Saturday afternoon to remain winless on the young season.
Raceland 9 Lawrence Co. 4 ( 9 innings ) Softball
The Dawgs led 4-1 going to the top of the seventh in the home opener on Friday night but couldn’t close it out as they made a couple errors that would have ended the game as the Rams capitalized for 3 runs in the seventh and then exploded for 5 runs in the ninth to put the game away. Ciana Bowen was the hard luck loser for the Dawgs. Ally Marcum had the big hit a 2 run double to put LC ahead.
Perry Central 4 Lawrence Co. 3 ( 10 innings ) Softball
On Saturday afternoon the Dawgs lost another tough one in extra innings. This time they fought back with 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to send it to extra innings but couldn’t scratch another run across.

The baseball will open up 60th district play when they travel to Pike Central on Tuesday at 6:00 and then host Pike Central on Thursday at 6:00
