LAWRENCE C PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES NEW SUMMER HOURS

LC PUBLIC LIBRARY EXTENDS  SUMMER HOURS…

The Lawrence County Public Library (LCPL) had a Regular Scheduled Monthly Meeting on Monday June 8, 2026 at Noon at the Library, 102 W. Main Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. LCPL Director Deena Meade was in attendance along with the LCPL Board of Trustees including, Lindsay Smith, Connie Fairchild, JoJo Triplett, and Andie Mattox. Lynn Perry was absent. LCPL Attorney Josh Puckett and LC Fiscal Court Magistrate Rick Blackburn County judge/executive elect were also in attendance.

APPROVE MINUTES

The Meeting Minutes for May 2026 were unanimously approved with a Motion by JoJo Triplett and seconded by Connie Fairchild.

APPROVE FINANCIALS

The Financials for April 2026 were unanimously passed with a Motion by Connie Fairchild and seconded by JoJo Triplett.

DIRECTORS REPORT

The Directors Report was given by Director Meade. Also Meade received one of 150 tickets to the Americas Celebration of 250 years in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) will have a 3 day event on June 21, 22 & 23rd. All expenses and costs are covered for Deena Meade

AMENDMENT TO EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE POLICY

The Amendment to Educational Assistance Policy was discussed by Director Meade. The Amendment states that if you have a Masters degree it will not pay for a second Masters. Meade said, “This clarifies the direction the library is going in.” Motion to Amend the Educational Policy was made by Connie Fairchild and seconded by JoJo Triplett.

DIRECTORS SIGNING ABILITY

There has been an issue with paying bills on time because Director Meade can only sign checks up to $1,000. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the Motion to raise Meades signing ability from $1,000 to $5,000. Motion by Andie Mattox and seconded by Connie Fairchild.

EXTENDED SUMMER HOURS

The library Board of Trustees has decided to extend the summer hours. Starting this week the library will be open late on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9AM – 7PM and on Saturdays will be open from 10AM to 2PM. Meade said, “After a few months we can monitor the situation and revisit at a later date. The employees are excited to stay open later.” Motion to extend summer hours was made by Connie Fairchild and seconded by JoJo Triplett.

EXTEND LIBRARY ATTORNEY CONTRACT 

Josh Puckett is the library’s attorney and also serves as County treasurer. His contract will extend from June 2026 to June 2027. Motion by JoJo Triplett and seconded by Connie Fairchild.
