Larry Maynard, 83, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 7, 2025. Larry was born October 6, 1941 to the late Neville and Surilda (Napier) Maynard.
Larry retired from N& W Railroad with over 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 89. Larry was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan since he was a child.
Most importantly, Larry was a man of God, having been an evangelist for many years. He was a member of Cando Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Glen Maynard; sister Josephine Perry; and brother Robert Jack Maynard.
Survivors include his wife of over 59 years Loretta Chaffin Maynard; children Martina (Jeff) Parsley and Larry Glen Maynard, Jr.; grandchildren Cory (Sheridan) Maynard, Cynthia (Michael) Adkins, Lori (James Bradley) Parsley, L.J. (Kayli) Parsley, Kristina Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Dylan Maynard, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Parsley; great grandchildren Landon, Jasmine, Chandler, Hayden, Gage, Maddox A., Braxson, Iris, Bayleigh, Bentley, Kimber, Jaci, Brentley, Maddox P., Knoxlee, Kinnley, Brailey, Jaylin, Conner, Cayden, Abel, and Evan; and siblings Frederick (Rita) Maynard, Ronnie Maynard, James (Kim) Maynard, Danny (Barb) Maynard, John (Susie) Maynard, and Freddie (Irene) Deskins.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Joe Castle, Darrell Brewer, and Jerry Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the Maynard Cemetery on Lost Creek.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home.
