Logan, W. Va. — Tolsia girls basketball opened up postseason play with a 66-51 victory over Sherman on Tuesday at Willie Akers Arena.

Selena Browning led four Lady Rebels in double figures with 16 points, Julie Boone tallied 15 points, Kerigan Salmons finished with 12 points, Kylea Pollinger scored 11 points including 3 three pointers, Autumn Block just missed double figures with 9 points, Isabella Simpkins chipped in with 3 points.

Tolsia hit four three pointers and went 8 of 16 from the charity stripe.
Sherman was led by Caroline Nelson with 20 points, Hailea Skeens with 15 points, Lauren Guthrie with 5 points, Abby Riley with 4 points, Ainsley Toney 3 points, Annika Roop and Amber Molosky 2 points each.
The Tide hit 3 three pointers and went 6 of 8 from the foul line.

Tolsia trailed 18-4 after one quarter and 29-10 at the halftime break and never recovered.
Autumn Block led the Rebels with 10 points and dished out 4 assists, Selena Browning tallied 9 points and 8 rebounds, Kylea Pollinger added 3 points, Julie Boone scored 2 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, Jace Litton and Kerigan Salmons netted 2 each, Isabella Simpkins scored 1 point and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Tolsia hit 1 three pointer and went 6 of 13 from the foul line.
Tug Valley was led by Kaylea Baisden and Makayla May with 13 points each, Allysa Newsome 9 points, Audrey Evans 8 points, Autumn Hall 5 points and Emily Hatfield 3 points.
The Panthers hit 3 three pointers and went 8 of 16 from the foul line.
Both teams will advance to the Region Tournament next Wednesday night.
Tolsia will play the winner of Gilmer Co./Calhoun Co. on the road.
Tug Valley will host the loser the same night.

“… Tuesday against Sherman it was a good team effort, survive and advance is name of the game this time of the year. We were sluggish in some aspects, but with time off that was to be expected.”
“… Tonight was a huge challenge for us. Tug Valley has very few weaknesses and is a very good team. We are looking forward to Regionals next week.”
