2016 Lawrence County Lady Bulldog Softball
Louisa, Ky. — The Lawrence Co. Bulldog softball team is coming off a 60th district championship in which they went undefeated in district play. The Lady Dawgs went 22-13 overall but lost to Johnson Central 4-1 in the first round of the 15th region tournament held at Prestonsburg.
LC will have to replace a talented middle infield combo of Hali Young and Savannah Cyrus who both started a bunch of games over their careers.
The Bulldogs will return five seniors, Ally Marcum, Tosha Rose, Addy Frazier, Layken Chapman and Mckenzie Giampalo, junior catcher Natalie Rice, junior utility player Haleigh Peck plus Super sophomore Ciana Bowen who will be in the circle the majority of the time and some talented youngsters like Freshman Abby Fletcher to try to fill the void.
LC is off to a 1-2 start to the young season losing two extra inning affairs and then picking up a big district win on Monday night over Belfry 3-0 behind Bowen on the mound and Peck leading the offense.
Lawrence Co. will be the favorite once again in the 60th district followed by Pike Co. Central, Belfry and Phelps
The Lady Dawgs will also be in the hunt for the 15th region crown with Magoffin Co. Johnson Central and Pikeville.

COACH’S COMMENTS
” It’s been a struggle so far on defense, I didn’t realize how good Savannah and Hali were.” We have pitched pretty good and I knew our offense might struggle early but I have to remember it is still March.” We need some girls to step up and be leaders and that hasn’t happened yet.” It is a long season, Every time we start out strong we kinda fizzle maybe the slow start will end with a bang this year.”
