Work zone closed from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
LAWRENCE COUNTY (November 7, 2020) – On Monday, November 9, D12’s Lawrence County maintenance specialists will close KY 3 at mile point 1.5 (which is 1.5 miles from the Lawrence-Martin County line) to replace a metal cross drain.
The cross drain runs underneath the pavement. The drain has failed, causing the road to drop; it must be replaced.
The crew did the saw cut on the pavement on Friday, November 5, but did not remove it. The road is open and safe for traffic through the weekend.
Work is set to start at 9:00 a.m. Monday and should be finished on or before 2:00 p.m. No traffic will be allowed through the work zone. Motorists will be able to drive up to the work zone on either side, but not through it. Once the pavement is removed to get to the drain, the road will be an open trench.
Todd Moran, D12’s Lawrence County superintendent, said the road might re-open before 2:00 p.m., depending on weather and other factors. But motorists should plan to use an alternate route at least until 2:00 p.m.
