KSP Investigates Reported Armed Robbery in Rush, Employee Charged with False Reporting

RUSH, Ky. (November 19, 2025) –Kentucky State Police Post 14 responded to a reported armed robbery at approximately 9:47 AM at the Marathon Gas Station located at 9822 U.S. 60 in Rush, Kentucky.

Upon arrival, troopers made contact with the store employee, who stated that two armed men had entered the business, held him at gunpoint, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

During the investigation, several inconsistencies in the employee’s account were identified. Further examination of evidence and interviews revealed that the alleged victim, Jessie McDaniels (32) of Ashland, had fabricated the report in an effort to conceal his own criminal actions.

As a result, McDaniels has been charged with False Reporting of an Incident. Troopers determined that no armed robbery occurred, and there is no threat to the public related to this incident.

The investigation by KSP Post 14 remains ongoing.
