Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland Investigating Armed Robbery
Ashland, Ky. (August 13, 2016) – The Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland is investigating an armed robbery which occurred at 123 Clark Hollow in Olive Hill, KY.
At approximately 8:18 am on Saturday August 13, 2016 individuals, armed with firearms, forcefully entered the residence and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.
During the commission of the robbery an altercation occurred between the homeowner and one of the robbery suspects. The suspect involved in the altercation, Kevin J. Helton, age 48, of Salt Lick, KY sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two other participants in the robbery, later identified as Cindy Puckett and Jonathan Goodan, fled from the scene on foot. The final participant involved in the robbery, Brittany Crouch, stayed at the scene and was subsequently arrested for her role in the crime.
During the robbery several individuals, including juveniles, were present at the residence but were not injured.
Cindy K. Puckett, age 41, of Morehead, KY was arrested, lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with Robbery 1st Degree. Brittany Crouch, age 28, of Frenchburg, KY was arrested, lodged in the Carter County Detention Center and charged with Robbery 1st Degree. Jonathan Goodan, age 45, of Olive Hill, KY was arrested and has been charged with Robbery 1st Degree
An autopsy has been scheduled for Kevin Helton on Sunday August 14, 2016.
The following agencies responded and assisted during the course of the investigation: Carter County Sheriff’s Department and Carter County Coroners Office.
The case remains under investigation by Detective David Boarmam Unit 301
