Troopers Make Large Drug Bust
LONDON, KY. May 22, 2023, On May 21, 2023, at approximately 1030 PM, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Arthur Ridge Road in Laurel County for expired registration plates. Through the course of the traffic stop the Operator was found to be under the influence as well as possessing approximately .25 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Troopers continued the investigation and learned the suspected methamphetamine was purchased from a residence on Chapel Road in East Bernstadt. Trooper Trey Lovins was able to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
The Search Warrant was executed on the residence. In the suspects’ bedroom Troopers were able to locate over 1.15 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, 4 firearms, digital scales, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of US Currency. Also located inside was the suspect, Billy C. Hurley Jr 58 years of age of London, Ky.
Mr. Hurley Jr. faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (> 2 grams, methamphetamine) as well as a host of other charges. Also located in the home was Billy Hurley Sr. who was arrested on an active Laurel County bench warrant.
Trooper Lovins was assisted on the scene by Trooper Blake Pennington, Trooper Logan Mallory, Trooper Ben Allen, Trooper Brian Maupin and K9 Gunner. Also assisting was the London Police Department and Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
Trooper Lovins continues the investigation.
