KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING MURDER IN LETCHER COUNTY

CASE INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING DURING MID-LATTER PART OF FRIDAY MORNING

DEADLY SHOOTING TAKEN BY BY A CONVICTED FELON: KENTUCKY STATE POLICE ARRESTED RODNEY LEE WEBB, 56, OF WHITESBURG, KY., SHOT AND KILLED NICHOLAS WEBB, 45, OF WHITESBURG, KY., ON FRIDAY MORNING, APRIL 5, IN LETCHER COUNTY, AFTER A FIGHT.

 

Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard, KY., in Perry County, reported that they are investigating a deadly shooting on GW Drive in the UZ community of Letcher County on Friday.

According to a news press release, at around 9:12 A.M., Friday, April 5, troopers said they received a 911 call in reference to a shooting.

When KSP Post 13 troopers, along with medical personnel first responders got to the scene, they confirmed they found Nicholas Webb, 45, of Whitesburg, KY., dead from a gunshot wound.

Law enforcement officials said Rodney Lee Webb, 56, of Whittesburg, KY., is the suspected shooter, and he was arrested on the scene.

After an initial investigation, KSP Post 13 detectives said the two men were engaged in a physical altercation, and the situation escalated when Rodney Webb reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on Nicholas Webb and shot him.

No word as of yet has been released of what the relation was between the two men.

The body of Nicholas Webb was taken to the Medical Examiner Office in Frankfort, KY. for an autopsy.

Rodney Lee Webb was taken to the Letcher County Jail in Whitesburg, and he was charged with one count of *MURDER; and one count of *POSSESSION OF HANDGUN BY CONVICTED FELON.

This homicide case remains under investigation by KSP Post 13 Detective Brandon Thomas.
