ASHLAND, Ky. (July 26, 2022) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 14 have arrested Matthew M. McDavid, 45, on charges related to a child sexual abuse material investigation.
McDavid was located, interviewed, and arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation. The Ashland Police Department began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing sexually explicit images online, and requested KSP assistance because the suspect’s residence is outside of Ashland’s regular jurisdiction.
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Catlettsburg on July 21, 2022. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to APD’s forensic team for examination. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Detective David Boarman.
McDavid is currently charged with 10 counts of possessing matter portraying a minor under the age of 12, 10 counts of possessing matter portraying a minor over the age of 12, and 1 count of distributing matter portraying a minor over the age of 12 in a sexual performance. These charges are Class-D and C felonies, punishable by one to ten years in prison. McDavid was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
