Morehead, Ky. — Former Bulldog great Kensley Feltner is coming closer to home and bringing her basketball talents to Morehead State University.

Feltner spent three total seasons in Nashville at Belmont University. She played in 70 total games with 2 starts, scored 194 points, grabbed 117 rebounds, dished out 24 assists.

Early in the season Feltner injured her knee and only played in five games and ended up redshirting so she will have two seasons left to play for the Eagles.

Morehead St. will be under the direction of Jackie Alexander who was an assistant coach at Illinois last season and is a Kentucky native from Rockcastle County.

Feltner is Kentucky’s fourth all-time leading scorer … Became only the fourth player in state history to score 4,000 points … Finished with 4,189 career points … Scored 1,039 points as a senior en route to being a Kentucky Miss Basketball finalist.

… Starred at Lawrence County High School where she set career school records for rebounds (1,542), assists (816) and steals (413), in addition to points … Led the commonwealth in scoring as a senior in 2022-23, averaging 28.9 points per game while also averaging 9.4 rebounds per outing

… Named first-team all-state by multiple outlets … Selected as 15th Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches … Led the Lawrence County Bulldogs to a 30-6 record as a senior, the school’s first 15th Region championship and a Kentucky Sweet 16 appearance … Earned Courier Journal All-State Second Team honors as a junior and third-team all-state recognition as a sophomore … Tabbed Mountain Top SportsPlayer of the Year as a sophomore … Played for Kentucky Premier in AAU ball … Also lettered in softball for the Bulldogs.

PLAYER’S COMMENTS

“… It was a lot to think about. I’ve had a great 3 years at Belmont and I’m extremely thankful to the staff and the community there for all they’ve done for me. But I knew it was ultimately time for me to find a new home.”

“… On Monday I had a few other schools reaching out and set up some visits, but on Tuesday Jackie Alexander got the job at Morehead State and I knew I would love to play for her. So when she called me it was a no brainer. She recruited me as an assistant at ETSU out of high school. I had built a great relationship with her then.”

“… I could not be more excited! Coming back and playing in the 606 means everything to me. Having the support from my family and the community from Louisa is so special and warms my heart.”
