The Lawrence County School System is pleased to welcome Mrs. Katie Webb as our next chief academic officer (CAO). Mrs. Katie Webb will be taking over the position currently held by Dr. Cassandra Webb on July 1, 2021. Dr. Cassandra Webb is retiring, effective June 30, 2021, after serving Lawrence County students for 29 years as teacher, counselor, assistant principal, high school principal, district career/technical director, and chief academic officer during her career.
According to Superintendent Robbie Fletcher, “Dr. (Cassandra) Webb has been a champion for kids her entire career. She loves the people of Lawrence County, especially our students. She leaves big shoes to fill.”
“Mrs. Katie Webb was one of several high-caliber applicants. She has an excellent track record of success. I look forward to Mrs. Webb continuing the successes of Dr. Webb and to Mrs. Webb adding her own brand to what we do,” added Fletcher.
Mrs. Katie Webb is a Lawrence County High School and an Eastern Kentucky University graduate. Mrs. Webb began her career as a substitute teacher at various schools, including a long-term substitute opportunity at Blaine Elementary. Afterwards, she moved into a full-time teaching position at Our Lady of the Mountains in Johnson County. In 2000, her teaching career brought her to Paintsville Elementary. She served as a teacher (9 years), supervisor of instruction (5 years), and principal (7 years) while in the Paintsville district. Under her leadership, Paintsville Elementary moved from a “Needs-Improving School” (2014) to a “School of Distinction” (2016 & 2017) to a “National Blue-Ribbon School” (2018), and she was recognized as a Blue-Ribbon Principal by the United States Department of Education.
“I am so excited to be able to return home to my alma mater. I am looking forward to working with the faculty and staff of the Lawrence County School System as we serve kids and provide them with the best of educational opportunities,” says Mrs. Webb.
Welcome home, Mrs. Webb!

You’ll never be able to replace Cassandra.
There is no one who can’t be replaced!
She did replace her but she will never be as good.
Anyone can be replaced.
Just like Biden replaced the Dear Leader
You get a rude.
I agree with Jeanne. Trust me they wont miss a beat.
I should have said you will never be up to Cassandra’s level. Sorry.
