K-9 LOCATES DRUGS AFTER TRAFFIC STOP, MAGOFFIN MAN ARRESTED

MAGOFFIN COUNTY, KENTUCKY MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG TRAFFICKING  CHARGES AFTER POLICE K-9 LOCATES SEVERAL TYPES OF DRUGS AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

SUSPECT ALSO CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE MOTOR TRAFFIC & MOTOR VEHICLE VIOLATIONS

THE ANGRY FACE OF A BUSTED DRUG DEALER: DANIEL L. JACKSON, 56, OF SALYERSVILLE, KENTUCKY, WHO WAS ARRESTED ON FEBRUARY 7, BY THE MAGOFFIN COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE, FOR TRAFFICKING HEROIN AND METH, AS WELL MARIJUANA POSSESSION.

 

A Magoffin County, Kentucky man found himself taken to jail, after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of a variety of illegal drugs.

According to the Magoffin County Sheriff Office arrest report, deputy Eugene Salyer on late Wednesday night, February 7, pulled over Daniel L. Jackson, 56, of Salyersville, KY., as he was arriving at his home near Royalton, after noticing his license plate had no light and some of the numbers on it were painted over.

Deputy Eugene Salyer wrote in his report that Daniel Jackson was acting suspiciously by trying to hurry into his house, and that Daniel Jackson later said he didn’t see the deputy and wouldn’t look him in the eye. The deputy asked for a K-9 police unit to investigate the car, and that the K-9 dog had a strong alert response to something inside Daniel Jackson’s car.

Eventually, according to the arrest report, Magoffin County deputies were able to find a large flashlight and a box inside the dashboard. The flashlight contained 82 grams of meth, while the box had another 20 grams of meth and 8 grams marijuana. A further search turned up a small bag of heroin stuffed between the back seats.

Daniel Jackson was arrested by deputy Eugene Salyer arrested Daniel Jackson on a total of 13 charges; 4 drug related charges, along with 9 motor traffic/vehicle charges, for which were the following:

  • TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE,1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),
  • TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA ( LESS THAN 8 OZ.) 1ST OFFENSE,
  • TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),
  • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS,
  • REAR LICENSE NOT ILLUMINATED,
  • IMPROPER DISPLAY OF REGISTRATION PLATES,
  • FAILURE OF NON-OWNER OPERATOR TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INSURANCE/SECURITY, 1ST OFFENSE,
  • FAILURE TO PRODUCE INSURANCE CARD,
  • NO REGISTRATION RECEIPT,
  • NO REGISTRATION PLATES,
  • FAILURE TO REGISTER TRANSFER OF MOTOR VEHICLE,
  • LICENSE PLATE NOT LEGIBLE,
  • DRIVING ON DUI SUSPENDED LICENSE -1ST OFFENSE.

 

Daniel Jackson was transported to, booked and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., in Johnson County, where he still remains incarcerated as of late Sunday.
