County Judge Executive John Osborne, along with Eric Clevenger of Wheeler-Clevenger Oil, Suzie New, of Hatfield-McCoy App, and Darrell Perkins of Moonglow Security, stuffed school backpacks with supplies on Monday, Aug. 1st at the Senior Citizens Center in Louisa.
The backpacks are for children who were not able to attend the previous school Readifests and are in need of school supplies.
After school starts, Judge Osborne will visit the schools to make sure the children receive the backpacks with much needed items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, crayons, etc.
The children will also receive a gift certificate from Taco Bell for free tacos.
Event organizer, Suzie New, said, “We also had the privilege to participate in the Adopt-A-Child for Back-to-School program. We were matched with a child and was given as list as to what that child needed. We then went shopping for those items.”
“We are so blessed and we want to share our blessing with others and there’s not a better feeling than when you are helping a child” said Judge Osborne.
