Gary D. Warick, 58, of Hagerhill, KY., was sentenced to 120 months (which is ten [10] years) in prison on Tuesday, November 12, by U.S. District Judge Robert Wier, following convictions for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine, and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to evidence presented at his trial, on April 26, 2022 and again on May 3, 2022, law enforcement in Johnson County made two controlled purchases of methamphetamine involving Gary Warick. Thereafter, on May 4, 2022, execution of a search warrant on Gary Warick’s residence uncovered additional methamphetamine. Collectively, the purchases and search resulted in the seizure of more than 130 grams of methamphetamine.
Gary Warwick is currently lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center in London, KY., where he has been since August 8, 2023; and is now awaiting to be designated to which federal prison he will serve time in by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
Carlton S. Shier, IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Michael E. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, Louisville Field Division; and Col. Phillip J. Burnett, Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police, announced the sentencing.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and KSP. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Blankenship is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.
