Are You Lonesome Tonight
John Butch Preston
My name is Ned. “Darling you lied when you said you loved me and I had no cause to doubt you. But I’d rather go on hearing your lies than to go on living without you.” These lyrics from an old Elvis song aptly apply to the particular predicament Trump fans are in right now. They would rather go on hearing his lies than to go on living without him. By living with such a contradiction seems to me a little bit like being a battered wife.
But that’s not the worst; by disseminating his lies themselves they’re breaking one of the Ten Commandments. How can they teach their children about not bearing false witness when they’re doing it themselves? It’s easy to see that Trump is their golden calf.
Another song lyric that not only Trump fans but we all need to seriously consider is by Bob Dylan: “So let us not talk falsely now, for the hour is getting late.” Just how does that relate to anything? If you have to ask, you haven’t really been paying attention, or else you’re too busy contemplating your own navel.
I see Trump for what he is, just one of the world’s run-of-the-mill big-time crooks; they’re a dime a dozen throughout history. To invest your life in him reminds me of another Elvis lyric, “Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.” Elvis is known as the king of rock and roll, but who else would consider himself a king? Anyone who would name his son “Baron.” To bestow such a title upon one’s son can mean only one thing, the pretense that he is a member of a royal family. So what does that say about the father?
One can easily perceive by reading this that I am more aggrieved by Trump fans than I am by Trump himself. For they are the enablers of whatever misuse of power comes next. Their enthusiasm for him can best be summed up by the other king of rock and roll, Jerry Lee Lewis. It’s as though they are singing this to Trump themselves: “You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain. Your kind of love drives a man insane. You broke my will but what a thrill. Goodness gracious great balls of fire.” Am I right or am I wrong?
you da man Butch
Republicans dislike democratic policies more than they disapprove of trump I’d rather tell my children I voted for trump than for baby murdering democrats
the republican party has controlled the supreme court since 1970
and white house 31 years out of the last 50 years
It’s a good thing!
and guess what abortion is legal in all 50 states and the gay’s can get married in all 50 states a product from the republican party
I am always so hesitant to comment on your ramblings but I find myself pulled to do so anyhow. I wonder if you are one of those people who blame the president for your own misgivings? Are you mad that trump is successful where you couldn’t be? Are you mad that people trust him and find you to be mentally insufficient? It seems at this point you are more angry that people would rather listen to him than to have to read your incoherent babble.
Your opinion pieces would be more compelling if you stopped writing so broken and followed some sort of template that keeps you on track to your point perhaps? It appears the only theme in your writing is “orange man bad”, and “orange minions bad”, which seems to fall directly in line with your favorite channel CNN.
I guess I am more curious about what makes you angrier, the Democrats looking so foolish and giving away the house this year, or the fact Trump is going to win in a landslide?
So in 2024, when trump is no longer president what will you have accomplished besides ruining what little reputation you had to ruin? What is your end goal? To insult your way through life in hopes someone agrees with you? I had heard from acquaintances of yours how you used to be some crazy good teacher, now it appears you are little more than someone suffering from A case of extreme EGO yet blind to the fact that you have no good qualities to be egotistical about. Classic narcissist. Let me guess I’m wrong about that? Likely story.
Thank you, Mr Franklin. This guy is a nut! Trump holds him hostage. Trump is all he can think about. Trump drags him around by his wittle marbles. As I’ve said before, he has become increasingly eccentric. The only reason I can see that the Lazer posts his ramblings is due to our traffic.
the only question one has to ask are we going to make this normal
for a US president from either party to with hold aid to a foreign country
to announce a investigation into your political opponent
Trump is guilty of this it’s simple
in 2017 and 2018 the Trump gave money to Ukraine and nothing about corruption
was mentioned only in 2019 did he start about corruption what changed ?
Biden was running for president
GUILTY
Let’s assume for a moment you are right, which you aren’t. But let’s assume you are. The.n you would be okay with impeaching Obama for lying about Benghazi to the American people? Sending pallets of cash to Iran? Fast and furious? Any of that? Nah I didn’t think so.
Truthfully, the administration was looking at corruption for a long time before the phone call. Multiple witnesses the democrats called even said this. Perhaps if Biden didn’t want roped up in an investigation he shouldn’t have had his son in a board of a company known for being corrupt. The Obama administration was even concerned of conflicts of interest and the corruption at that company. The difference is they didn’t act. The mere fact that democrats were included in bipartisan opposition shows how fruitless this exercise is. Completely partisan. If that’s what democrats want for presidents from now on then okay.
let’s ASUME your corruption about Obama is true which it is
not. not one of your example’s showed Obama benefited personal
to win an election now Benghazi was a bad mess i agree
but compared to Trump’s mess with Ukraine not in the ballpark
the money Obama sent to Iran was there money the US and rest of
the western world took after Iran stormed our embassy in the
late 70’s look what has happened in Iraq now Iran has had sanctions
on them since late 70’s what is Trump going to do about Iran now?
and when has Trump every worried about corruption one example
KAG, posting as Charles, rambles on incoherently just about like the author of this sad article.
I have it from a reliable source that “Ned” is really John Butch Preston. I had thought from the juvenile ramblings that it might have been one of Mr. Preston’s grandchildren or other younger relative. It makes me wonder if “Ted” in previous writings was also Mr. Preston. I suppose one must change one’s name to fit one’s perception of ones self.
A sound analysis of any President’s term of office would involve the pros and cons of various approaches. President Trump is obviously trying to right the wrongs of his predecessors. To prattle on in a childish manner speaks volumes about the writer.
Publishing Mr. Preston’s articles does have one purpose. It shows how far some people can go versus those who see the sunny side of life and treat all people with respect. Calling people names and trying to denigrate them is not the code of a gentleman.
Michael Bloomberg is a Democrat running for President. I wonder what the writer will have to say about Mr. Bloomberg’s wealth of $33 Billion, as listed by Forbes, should he become president.
Hmmm…How quiet it may get.
My first time reading the opinion of this liberal wack-a-do and no doubt my last. A friend messaged me about the piece otherwise it would have silently fallen back into the literary sewer it crawled out of. Trump deranged liberals can’t accept the fact that the economy is booming, unemployment at record low in all categories black, Hispanic, women… The stock market has set records consistently and recovered all of it’s losses during Obama’s abysmal “recovery.” Every indicator points toward a successful and strong nation, yet liberals refuse to accept it. The GDP growth has exceeded even the most optimistic projections made by Obama, who said “America needs to lower expectations to a realistic growth rate of 1.2-1.5. His goal was a GDP growth rate approaching 1.7 percent, he even ridiculed candidate Trump’s promise of a GDP growth in excess of 3%. Recall his famous and completely un-informed line “what’s he gonna do wave a magic wand.” Well apparently Trump has such a wand, it’s called business sense and the political might to make decisions which benefit America, not China, Mexico, Iran and the numerous others who Obama wooed and was cowed by. As a result our GDP has exhibited steady and sustained growth topping 3.5% at one point and Obama’s resultant silence then an attempt to take credit for it. We have over 1/3 of the world’s economy as a result of Trumps relentless and tenacious demands for fair trade and also because he lifted restrictions which kept businesses out of our country. Mr. Preston obviously believes anything positive about POTUS is a “dirty stinkin lie.” And we “deplorables who repeat it are “dirty, stinkin liars.” Me. Preston needs to pour out the kool-aid and take a drink of reality.
I am a child of the 70s and had no idea that the multitude of males, in that era, named Baron were the offspring of wanna-be Kings…amazing. Wonder what he thinks about the folks named General, must have had delusional parents who wanted to be General Patton or maybe Napoleon. By his logic (term used loosely here) the common Hispanic name of Jesus would indicate a parent who believes he is God. And what of the names Mary, Joseph, David, Paul … the list is endless but I’m sure in his Trump deranged mind, it didn’t occur to him the significance of most names. I likewise wonder about his thoughts on the name Barack Hussein Obama…hmm wonder what that signified. As a side note, he isn’t even original enough to come up with that idiotic line on his own. The liberal law professor who testified at the impeachment hearings attempted to use that as a one-liner to get air play on liberal media outlets. As a result she was exposed for bullying a 12 year old and shown to be the pea brained partisan hack that everyone suspected she was. Seriously? She was so triggered by the sight of a Trump hotel that she had to cross the street to walk past it…definitely no bias there.
At any rate Me. Preston’s incoherent ramblings and lyrical references brings to mind the song “all I got to do is dream” or. perhaps “dream on, dream on, dream on til you dream comes true.” Because at this point all the liberal haters have left are “dreams.” Or I guess they can keep their heads in the sand until 2024.
