…A Lazer Christmas story
As I walked up to the porch, I felt as though this could be any house in the neighborhood.
It was small but very homey and I was immediately welcomed to the stranger’s home. Once I entered I discovered it was a very special home with lots of love to give. The occupants of the house were just ordinary people much like my own family.
Then the suspense started. We were awaiting two very special guests, you see.
The first to enter the house was the familiar Jim Cavins, who has delivered mail to this residence and others in Eastern Ky for 22 years. Tonight Jim quickly turned into “Santa Claus” for a reason.
And that is when the “AWW” moment came.
As Homer “Adam” Cantrell entered his home escorted by his mother, it was clear to me that this was a very exciting and surprising moment for this young man. Adam is the grandson of the late Katherine and Homer Cantrell and the son of Helen Cantrell.
His face lit up with pure “JOY” as he glanced into the kitchen entry and saw Santa Claus standing in his house. The moment was priceless. He sat on Santa’s lap and told him of his Christmas Wishes and his laughter was contagious.
The family was also full of joy.
Jim Cavins, Santa, has been surprising this young man for a while now on Christmas and his heart is also full of joy. A special thanks to Mr. Cantrell’s family for making this dream come true year after year. Alberta Diamond, is a loving aunt, whose love for this young man is amazing.
“This family has had ice water for me on hot days and something warm on cold days every day that I deliver mail,” Jim Cavins said. “This moment needs to be captured.”
It certainly brought this lady (me) to tears and I am so grateful to have been there. Thanks for inviting the Lazer into your home.
