November 20, 2013 — June 15, 2025
Gunner Luke Stepp, 11 years old, peacefully crossed over into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
The youngest of three, Gunner was born to Jason and Brittany Stepp on November 20, 2013. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandpas, Wendale Stepp and Roy Tiller; a cousin, Isaiah Thompson; and an uncle, Rodney Stepp.
Along with his parents, Gunner is survived by his two favorite people, his brother, Connor and sister, Reagan; the best family and support system: his Pop Pop and Nonna (Michael and Vickie Horn), Aunt Ducky and Uncle TyTy (Tiffany and Tyler Brewer), Aunt Mikie and Uncle Al (Michaelea and Allen McCoy), and his loving little cousins, MaKenna and MyKa McCoy.
Additionally, Gunner is survived by his grandmother, Judy Tiller; an uncle, Ted (Emily) Stepp, and aunts, Nancy Keating and Robin Patrick, cousins Adriana and Taylor Hurd, Elisha, Jeremiah, and Isaiah Stepp.
Many aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and classmates are left to grieve for Gunner, but he left a profound impact on all our lives, shining his light and sharing with everyone how Jesus had touched his life.
Spunky, sneaky, smart, sweet, sassy, rotten, loving, stubborn, sour patch kid-just a few words that describe our Lukey or Luke Duke, as we often called him. All he ever knew was sickness. As soon as he got “better” it seemed like he would have another set back and be sick again. Countless lab tests, needle sticks, and hospital stays are things he was all too familiar with. Now, Gunner doesn’t have to worry about any of that. He is completely healed and whole. Gunner’s faith in Jesus stood strong as he declared to his classmates “God can do anything!” And he believed that wholeheartedly.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
