A Lawrence County Grand Jury met on February 8, 2024 and issued a handful of criminal indictments.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Jerod Kelly
The Grand Jury charges: that on or about October 8, 2023 through November 21, 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Jerod Kelly committed the offense of Human Trafficking by intentionally subjecting a person under the age of eighteen (18), through the use of force, fraud or coercion, to engage in commercial sexual activity including (a) participation in the production of obscene material and/or (b) engaging in a sexually explicit performance.
2. The above named defendant committed the offense of Procuring or Promoting the Use of a Minor by Electronic Means, by on at least ten occasions, knowingly using a communications system, including computers, computer networks, computer bulletin boards, cellular telephone or any other electronic means for the purpose of promoting or procuring the use of a minor in a sexual performance and/or commercial sexual activity.
3. The above named defendant committed the offense of Distribution of Obscene Material to a Minor by knowingly and unlawfully sending or causing to be sent obscene material to at least ten (10) minors, knowing such persons to be minors or having possession of such facts that he should reasonably have known such persons were minors and with the knowledge of the content and character of the material he so sent.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Joshua Harmon
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before November 20, 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. On November 20, 2023, Joshua Harmon committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 0.122 grams, with the intent to traffic in that Methamphetamine or by trafficking in that 0.122 grams of Methamphetamine.
2. On November 20, 2023, Joshua Harmon committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 4.970 grams, with the intent to traffic in that Methamphetamine or by trafficking in that 4.970 grams of Methamphetamine.
3. That the Defendant, having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony count (s), is now being charged as a Persistent Felony Offender, in the 1st Degree.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Joshua Harmon
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before November 18, 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. On November 18, 2023, Joshua Harmon committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 2.235 grams, with the intent to traffic in that Methamphetamine or by trafficking in that 2.235 grams of Methamphetamine.
2. That the Defendant, having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony count (s), is now being charged as a Persistent Felony Offender, in the 1st Degree.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Joshua Harmon
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before November 6, 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. On November 6, 2023, Joshua Harmon committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of approximately 0.258 grams, with the intent to traffic in that Methamphetamine or by trafficking in that 0.258 grams of Methamphetamine.
2. That the Defendant, having been charged in the instant indictment with the above stated felony count (s), is now being charged as a Persistent Felony Offender, in the 1st Degree.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Paul Chaffin
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before June 1, 2023, in Lawrence County Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Paul Chaffin committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
2. The above named defendant committed the offense of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a glass pipe containing chemical residue.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Jimmy Robbins
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before December 30, 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Jimmy Robbins committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Christmas Rigsby
The Grand Jury charges: that on or before December 23 2023, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:
1. Christmas Rigsby committed the offense of Burglary in the 3rd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering and remaining in Walmart in Louisa, Ky after having been banned from the premises on August 3, 2023, with the intent to commit the crime of theft therein.
Indicting Christmas is just taking things to far!
