Sheriff Rick Thompson stated that two suspects were arrested tonight (Sunday) after a vehicle pursuit in the Fort Gay area.
Sheriff Thompson stated that Road Patrol attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle and the driver accelerated. After a short pursuit the suspect crashed the vehicle and the driver and passenger fled
on foot. A Road Patrol Deputy located both suspects in a wooded area and took them into custody. The vehicle was reported stolen in Ashland, KY. The Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit assisted Road Patrol.
The driver, Richard Cook of Fort Gay, is charged with Fleeing in a vehicle, Receiving or Transferring Stolen Property, Fleeing on Foot, and Destruction of Property.
The passenger, Rosetta Gunter, of Morehead, is charged with Fleeing on Foot and is also a Fugitive from KY for drug charges.
