1957 FLOOD DOCUMENTARY
I don’t remember this flooding I was too young, but I did work in many floods with communications.
I thought about asking some on the nets about how things were today in the areas that use to flood every year a long time ago. I don’t know it the dams that were constructed helped or if the weather has changed a lot,
I don’t see the rainfall like I did years ago that goes for days at a time. But now I noticed that the storms we have had here in Lawrence County with the heavy wind and heavy rain fall coming all at once, that is something new to many of the old ones I have talked to.
Thanks for weather bureau with its reports, watches and warning have really made a difference in getting people to know what is coming and understand what to do.
I was Lawrence County EM Director for 12 years and do remember floods and heavy snow we had few years ago.
Thanks,

I hate to break this news to the writer…but the 1957 flood happened 63 years ago, not 50! I was born in March of 57, and I know how old I am.
Is there something wrong with you Charles or do you just make it a habit of not looking past a headline? It seems to take too much effort for a boomer like you to click the link to the YouTube video here is the description. This documentary on the 1957 flood originally aired on WYMT around the 50th anniversary in 2007. It includes a rare home movie of the flood in and around downtown Hazard, Kentucky and interviews with folks affected by the flood. It was the worst flood in Hazard’s history.
NO, smart a$$ the WYMT video was dated 2015, That was also not 50 years. I clicked the link, were you smart enough to?
I don’t typically comment on posts, but as a long time reader I thought I’d drop in and wish you all the best
during these troubling times.
