CASE STEMS FROM ALLEGATION OF INCIDENTS IN 2018; AS FORMER TROOPER IS CURRENTLY EMPLOYEE OF MAGOFFIN COUNTY SCHOOLS AND KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR LAST SEVERAL YEARS
VIOLATOR: ANTHONY R. TAULBEE, 47, OF SALYERSVILLE, KY., WAS INDICTED IN MAGOFFIN COUNTY, KY. BY A GRAND JURY FOR THIRD-DEGREE RAPE & FIRST DEGREE SEX ABUSE. TAULBEE IS A FORMER KY. STATE POLICE CAPTAIN & CURRENTLY WORKS FOR THE MAGOFFIN COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM; AND ALSO THE KY. DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
A Magoffin County man, who is a former Kentucky State Police captain has been indicted by a Magoffin County grand jury on charges of rape and sexual abuse.
Anthony B. Taulbee, 47, of Salyersville, KY., was charged in the indictment with one count of
*SEXUAL ABUSE, 1ST DEGREE; and one count of
*RAPE, THIRD DEGREE.
According to Magoffin County court documents, the alleged sexual abuse happened sometime between March 1, 2018, and June 1, 2018, in Magoffin County, Kentucky. The rape allegations stem from sometime between March 1, 2018, and August 12, 2018.
Anthony Taulbee is facing the charge of rape in the third degree which is typically used for cases of statutory rape, or when a person in a position of authority has a sexual relationship with a minor or prisoner, or position of special trust to a person under the age of 18, according to a statement in the Magoffin County court documents.
Anthony Taulbee was a former captain at Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, KY., and later served as commander of Post 6 in Dry Ridge, KY., in Grant County. Anthony Taulbee has since retired from the KSP and later worked as a criminal justice teacher at the Magoffin County Career and Tech Center.Anthony Taulbee, is currently both an employee of the Kentucky Department of Corrections and also the Magoffin County school system.
Officials with Magoffin County Schools confirmed Anthony Taulbee is an employee at the school system, reporting that he was hired on February 19, 2018.School officials said Anthony Taulbee was suspended without pay, which they confirmed in a press release statement about the case:
“We have been made aware of the charges filed against Mr. Taulbee. Mr. Taulbee has been suspended without pay from Magoffin County Schools since February 2022. We will monitor this situation and act according to statute. We will always keep our students’ safety and best interest as our main priority.”Magoffin County Schools
The Kentucky Department of Corrections has reported to area media outlets that the incident did not take place at a DOC facility, and reported the Department of Corrections is taking ‘corrective action’, by placing Anthony Taulbee on administrative leave with intent to dismiss.
Anthony Taulbee turned himself in on Wednesday evening, July 19; and was booked into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, KY., in Johnson County.
Anthony Taulbee pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Magoffin Circuit Court on Thursday morning, July 20. Anthony Taulbee is next scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, September 18.
Anthony Taulbee has since been released from the BSRDC jail after posting a $20,000 full cash bond.
