Former Floyd Co. pastor pleads not guilty to federal child porn charges
A former Floyd County pastor has pleaded not guilty to federal child pornography charges.
David Glenn Boyd, 53, of Wheelwright, was indicted on the charges last week, and court records show he was arrested and remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service earlier this week.
Boyd previously served as pastor of the Wheelwright Baptist Center, and ran for a seat on the Wheelwright City Commission in 2016, where he finished last out of eight candidates.
Boyd faces one count of distribution of visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct using a means of interstate commerce and one count of possession of a matter containing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct which had been transported in interstate commerce.
According to Boyd’s indictment, a large collection of electronics has been deemed forfeited to the government per their investigation, including a laptop, all-in-one PC, three tablets, five hard drives and flash drives, seven cell phones and a camera, among others.
At arraignment Tuesday, Boyd pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A jury trial has been tentatively scheduled for Dec. 11 before Judge Karen Caldwell.
