Grayson, Ky. — Former Lawrence Co. standout Baden Gillispie is returning to the gridiron and will suit up for Kentucky Christian University this fall.
Gillispie is a 2021 LCHS graduate and will be a freshman for the Knights this upcoming season.
He played three years for the Bulldogs before transferring to Cabell-Midland in West Virginia to play his senior season because of COVID and then returned to play basketball for Lawrence Co. and graduated in 2021 as a Bulldog.
Gillispie has been teaching and coaching in Lawrence Co. the last couple of years before deciding to give football another shot just 45 minutes down the road.

“… I always knew I wanted to play again. Covid really changed my path of that but I always knew I still wanted to play football, and that time off of it really made me miss it. KCU being close to home and them giving me a chance to play again was something I knew I had to do.”
“… I’ve been doing all I can the past year almost to prepare myself for the chance if I was able to play again. Working out with my brother and competing anytime I can has helped me a lot too. Talking to coaches here I think i’ll be in a hybrid/athlete role, playing quarterback when they need me to but also catching passes and getting handoffs from the back field when needed. I’m excited to see how they use me this season and what we can do on the field.”
“… Playing for Coach Short I was able to be myself and do a lot with the offense. Him allowing me to play quarterback and lead the offense I think is something that will help me a lot going forward especially in college. Coach Salmons has a college like program ran at Cabell Midland so going there and playing definitely prepared me for what’s to come. It was a great experience playing there and I’m glad I was able to play with my old friends and brother at a high level.”
