NO SMOKE IN BUILDING BUT ODOR FROM BURNED PVC IS DETECTABLE
From Supt. Dr. Rob Fletcher: 12:49 PM Friday
“…Shortly after midnight, our local fire and police departments responded to, what appeared to be, a fire at Louisa East. It appeared as if someone was using a culvert as a fire place. The culvert was connected to the storm drainage system that services the gutters and the grounds of Louisa East.”
“…The fire damaged the drains and put a huge amount of smoke through the storm drains, including the downspouts attached to Louisa East. Smoke was not evident inside the building, but you could smell the burnt PVC. When we left this morning at 3:00 AM, it did not appear that the building was damaged directly by the incident.”
“…Currently, we have the utility companies (gas, electric, etc.) evaluating the campus to determine if any damage occurred to their pipelines and/or power lines. To be safe, we felt that it was best to keep our staff and students home while the building and grounds were assessed fully today.”
“…We hope to have more information by the end of the day. Also, we sincerely appreciate our first responders for their time and effort at such a late hour.”
MORE INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE
It’s probably some of the homeless people that the arc has brought in Louisa. What a shameful place louisa has became.
ARC is a good program. However, it doesn’t have a 100% success rate. When someone is brought into Louisa for the program from out of town, and they don’t complete the program, it should be ARC’s responsibility to return that individual to their home town. Even if it’s 8 states away, an ARC representative should escort them to their front door. Don’t just release them into the local community to resume their old habits around our families.
How did a culvert fire, that did not affect Louisa East in any way other than odor, which I’m sure the neighborhood smelled as well, cause the ENTIRE county school system to be closed? By this rationale, if there is a clogged toilet at Blaine, then the high school is directly affected! Wow! At this rate, a child that attends school in LC from K-12 will graduate with a 10th grade education! Sad!
Further reason to take a bit of inspiration out of the good book and do what Jesus would do. Open a shelter for the less fortunate so they do not have to choose between vandalism or death by exposure.
To start with, Jesus didn’t go around building shelters for the homeless. He offered salvation to all who believed on His name. Secondly, most vandalism isn’t done by homeless individuals. Rather, it’s usually one, or a group, of individuals who deliberately deface/destroy property just for the thrill of in. Then they go home and act like nothing happened. Thirdly, there’s not a documented case in Lawrence County of a homeless person dying from exposure.
I agree with a good deal of that. However I do think Jesus would have built homeless shelters, he was a carpenter. Yes he died for the likes of us Citizen, but along the way he healed the sick, blind and lame, even raised the dead. I don’t see it unlikely that he would have or did build shelter for those without homes.
Good job Birdy. Citizen is a sanctimonious old bible thumper, who thinks people who don’t agree with ‘his version’ of Christianity are wrong. He also thinks his opinions outweigh everyone else’s. His kind turn people away from Jesus. Thank God he is the one who is wrong.
Citizen knows everything, just ask him! 🙂
And none of it could have anything to do from all the runoff from garages and gas stations.
