2 NAMES ADDED TO LC LIBRARY BOARD, FIRE BOARD NOT DISCUSSED AT MEETING…

LOUISA, KY. — The Lawrence County Fiscal Court had a Special Scheduled Meeting on August 6, 2024 at 10AM at the Lawrence County Courthouse, Downtown 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. LC Judge Executive Phil Carter was in attendance along with the LC Magistrates David Pinson, Rick Blackburn, Michael Mouse Halcomb (via telephone.) John Scaggs was absent.
LIBRARY BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Judge Carter said, “I appoint Sandy Smith and Lynn Perry to the LC Public Library Board of Trustees. Motion by David Pinson 2nd by Rick Blackburn. Roll Call. (SEE VIDEO)
FIRE BOARD APPOINTMENTS
There was no discussion on the Fire Board Appointments although it was listed on the agenda for the special meeting.. (SEE VIDEO).
There was no discussion of this item during the meeting. However, before the meeting there was discussion between Judge Carter and Louisa Fire Chief Eddie Preston about a checkbook Fire Board Member, Colleen Stone, has taken from the Judge’s Office. Carter told Preston he wanted the books from the fire board including the check books in his office.
Contacted after the meeting Ms. Stone said she has always kept the checkbook, minutes and other items for the Taxing district and another member co-signs the checks. “All of the figures and business of the taxing district, which is not under Judge Carter’s control, BTW, are then sent to (former) member Neil Wilson,” Ms. Stone said. He then does the official books.”
Chief Preston agreed with Ms. Stone and told judge Carter she is correct
SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATION CHANGE
“There has been a change on the Solid Waste, the county has no resources to pay for contractors to use the stations, so the county is going to accept residents only.” Judge Carter said. Vince Doty, Deputy Judge, said, the only change on the solid waste transfer station was the prices on the trailers.” Doty went over the prices per trailer at the meeting. $65 for a two foot side and four foot side is now $75, Doty said. DETERMINATION ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA
The County has decided to put Medical Marijuana on the ballot for November 2024. Motion by David Pinson 2nd by Rick Blackburn. The City of Louisa has approved Medical Marijuana but the County decided to put it on the ballot for November 2024. Voters will vote on whether medical marijuana stores can operate in the county when it becomes legal Jan. 1.

I agree with Phil Carter on this one. Old lady Stone needs to turn them checks and that check book back over to the county. Why is the assistant fire chief’s mother keeping the checks and records for the fire taxing district? Isn’t that a conflict of interest? It sure seems unethical to me.
Krazy King Karter just wants the fire board checkbook so he can write more checks to his son in law
