Etta Mae Brewer, 75, of Prichard WV, left her frail earthly body for a new, glorified one in heaven while sleeping peacefully on the morning of December 7th. The wife of Pastor Darrell Brewer for 56 years, Etta was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born November 20, 1947 to the late Perry “Jim” and Florence Patton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her oldest son Darrell Glen Brewer Jr.; a beautiful granddaughter McKenzie Sha’ Brewer; mother and father in law Bill and Sis Brewer; brothers, James and Kenny Patton; sisters Carol Copley and Gladys Crosby; and brothers in law Hershel Brewer, Eugene Justice, Roger Brewer, Fred Dean and Milt Copley.
She is survived by her husband Darrell Brewer; son Steven (Sonya) Brewer, daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Haywood, and daughter in law Lisa Brewer, all of Prichard. Etta was “Granny” to and adored by Kayla (Danny) Brody, Caitlin Johnson, Darrell Brewer III (Trey), Will, Ben and Megan Clayton, Kenzleigh, Kasen, Brynleigh, Baleigh and Ledger Brody, Austin and Nate Haywood, Kierra Sowards and Maliek Johnson.
She is also survived by siblings Linda (Pal) Copley, Amy Dean, and Bob (Eva) Patton; also by Lula Justice, Joe Brewer, Sally Brewer, Ava (Carl) Hardwick, Charles (Fontella) Brewer and Wes Crosby.
She was a faithful member of the Prichard FreeWill Baptist Church, and loved her church family as her own.
She was a gifted singer, using her voice to sing for the Lord; and also a wonderful cook, who spoiled her family with home cooked meals of the best chicken and dumplings, gravy and biscuits, vegetable soup, strawberry pies and homemade cinnamon rolls. Our hearts are broken, but hers is finally healed. She will be fiercely missed by her family.
Thank you to all of those at St Mary’s Medical Center who cared for our sweet momma over the last several years; with special thanks to Dr. Eugenia Jarrell, Melissa Chapman NP, Kevin Moore NP, Dr. Esam Baryun, Dr. Sirisha Reddy, Dr. Staci Smith, Dr. Melin Moses and the staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit, who she loved dearly.
Viewing will be Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Prichard FreeWill Baptist Church, with friends and family visiting starting at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Prichard FreeWill Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Brewer Family Cemetery on Queens Creek Road.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Brewer and her family.
