Douglas “Doug” Allen Damron, 67, of Fort Gay, WV, gained his heavenly wings on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born February 22, 1958 in Louisa, Kentucky, the son of the late Vince “Buck” Damron and Lorene Thompson Damron.

Doug leaves behind to mourn his loss his loving wife of 49 years, Cindy Ratcliffe Damron; his daughter Amy (Jeff) Evans of Marysville Ohio; son Billy (Ada) Damron of Mt. Sterling Kentucky;  3 lights of his life, his pride and joys, Grandsons, Logan & Dylan Evans and Liam Damron; special granddaughter Alyson Parks; sisters Connie (Rusty) Dillion and Robyn (Danny) Raines; mother-in-law Katheryn Ratcliffe; sisters-in-law Linda (Darrell) Jones, Lisa (Frank) Kitts, Susan (Rick) Porter; and host of special nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends Grant & Heidi Maynard, Travis & Sarah Cain, Brenda Wellman and Tracy & Becky Glascock.

Doug was a loving Husband, Daddy and Da-Grandpa. A patient, kind and humble soul.  A friend to all. Doug worked for Norfolk and Southern on the Bridge and Building gang for 41 years before he retired in 2018, where he had many railroad brothers. Doug was a farmer most of his life, he enjoyed being out in the fields and tending to the cattle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to be in the woods.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Young Funeral Home with Brother Dick Maynard and Brother Perry Damron officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm, for the family,  and 5:00 pm for all that wish to attend, Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Damron and his family.
