Donald L. Hamilton, 86, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Don was born July 2, 1936 in Olive Hill, KY to the late Ray and Lorraine (Johnson) Hamilton.
Don retired from Special Metals and was a member of United Steelworkers Local Union No. 40. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisa and a member of the choir.
When Don was growing up, he worked along side his grandfather at the town market. In high school, he was the captain of the Football Team. During the Catlettsburg and Louisa High School game, he met his wife Noreta. She was a cheerleader. When he saw her on the sidelines, he knew she was the one. He would walk the railroad tracks from Catlettsburg to Louisa just to see her. Don and Noreta were married 68 years. When their children were younger, Don was a little league baseball coach. He was a former member of the Louisa City Council and a member of the Bass Club. In his free time, he loved to fish, play golf, and paint.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife Noreta Crum Hamilton; and sisters Betty Hamilton Talley and Libby Holmes Innes.
Survivors include children Mark A. (Sonnie Martin) Hamilton, Tracey D. (Nancy Pratt) Hamilton, and Holly (Estel Larry) Hamilton Mills; grandchildren Christopher (Bryanne) Hamilton, Shanda (Dan) Hamilton Welch, Shane Hamilton, Adam (Katie) Swann, and Lindsay (Justin) Mills Smith; great grandchildren Myla Hamilton, Mason Hamilton, Marlee Hamilton, Dexter Welch, Samantha Welch, Sydney Welch, Thurston Swann, Greer Smith, Rory Smith, and Samuel Smith; sisters Mary (Roger) Hamilton Hewitt, Lauretta Hamilton Caldwell, and Nora (Duane) Holmes Brush; closest friend and cousin William Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 6:00 PM at the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Price officiating. Friends may visit the family Friday, May 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM until time of service at the Young Funeral Home Chapel.
