Louisa, Ky. — When the 2023 Football season opens for the Lawrence Co. Bulldogs the schedule will look quite different after District realignment.
The defending Class 3A District 8 champion Lawrence Co. Bulldogs will have a couple new opponents to welcome in 2023.
Old District foes Belfry and Magoffin Co. will still be with Lawrence Co. but Floyd Central and Pike Co. Central were moved to Class 2A District 7 and 8 respectively.
Powell Co. and Estill Co. will join the Bulldogs, Pirates and Hornets to form the new Class 3A District 8 for the next couple years.
Lawrence Co. is scheduled to have six home games at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium which will feature a new artificial turf surface with the first home game on Friday August 25th against Shelby Valley in the Lawrence County Farm Bureau Bowl.
The Bulldogs will open up the season in Morehead versus Rowan Co. on Friday August 18th and then back home to host Perry Co. Central on Friday September 1st before having an off week before making the long trek to Harlan to to face the Harlan Co. Black Bears on Friday September 15th.
On September 22nd the Dawgs will play four straight District games by welcoming the Engineers of Estill Co. to Louisa. The next week it will be a showdown in Pond Creek against the Belfry Pirates on September 29th. Magoffin Co. will travel to Louisa on October the 6th before the Dawgs close out District play on the road at Powell Co. October 13th.
The final two regular season games will be at home versus Boyd Co. on October 20th and Mason Co. October 27th.
