Bodies of other two Knott children recovered as death toll continues to climb
FRANKFORT, Ky. — During a press conference following an aerial tour of Eastern Kentucky flood damage with FEMA AdminIstrator Deanne Criswell, Gov. Andy Beshear said his office has learned that the bodies of two missing Knott County children have been recovered.
The children were among four siblings swept away by floodwaters on Thursday. The bodies of the first two children had been found earlier, while the remaining two were found later today. The children ranged in age from 8 to 1 1/2.
That raises the death toll to at least 18 now, but Beshear said he was not able to give an exact figure at this time, because all of the deaths must first be reviewed by the Department for Public Health. He did say that the number of deaths is continuing the grow. The governor said his office will issue a written update later today. Mountain Top News will bring that to you when it is released.
