LOUISA, KY. — Lawrence County Clerk Chris Jobe said Friday that candidates have been scarce so far for Louisa Council seats and BOE positions.

“The deadline to sign up for these positions is now Tuesday, June 4 at 4:00 pm.,” Jobe said. “We have three Board of Education seats and only one candidate so far.”

Jobe said the early deadline may have something to do with the lack of candidates. He said the law was changed recently and many citizens are used to the old deadline which was 90 days before the election.

Jobe said longtime board member Barbara Robinson, who represents District 5 made up of Buchannon, Fallsburg, and Deep Hole on the board, is the only one signed up so far with two other seats including District 2, Spring Hill, Adams, Brushy, Point Section, and Stella Moore, and District 4, West Louisa, East Louisa, and Meadowbrook.

District 2 is currently represented by Jim See, and District 4 by Susie Ward.

City council candidates so far are Rose Lester, Keith Chaffin and Caleb Farley.
