Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence County ( 8-5 ) had a big second half to cruise past Magoffin County ( 2-11 ) 79-52 in the Class 2A Section 8 tournament on Tuesday night.

The Dawgs and Hornets were tied at 35 all at the break before Lawrence County won the second half 44-17 for the win.
Lawrence Co. had four players finish in double figures led by Hayden Perry scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, Kaiden Harris added 15 points, CJ Waller turned in a great game with 14 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, Kaden Johnson netted 11 points, Isaah Hughes had 7 points, Caden Muncy had 4 points, Luke Fetherolf and Andrew Ratcliffe had 3 points, CJ Whitt and Grant Cochran chipped in with 1 point each.

The Dawgs made 6 three pointers and went 15 of 24 from the free throw line.
The Hornets were led by Maycen Allen with 13 points, Walker Russell 9 points, Parker Bowling 8 points, Jackson Gilliand, Caleb Lovely and Even Reed had 5 points each, Trey Hines 3 points, Micheal Trusty and Dayson Burchett 2 points each.
Magoffin Co. hit 6 three pointers and went 8 for 12 from the free throw line.

The Bulldogs will host Johnson Central on Saturday night at 7:30 for the Section 8 title after the Golden Eagles beat Floyd Central 81-59 on Thursday in Louisa.

“… Slow start against Magoffin County in the first round of the 2A tournament. Very proud of the way our guys responded in the second half. Our energy and effort improved and as a result, we were able to stretch the lead out. We will wait and see who wins Thursday night as we prepare for the championship on Saturday.”
