DAWGS FALTER LATE AGAINST BELFRY; Host Floyd Central in a key District game Friday

Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. Girls ( 10-6 ) drop a close one 52-49 against Belfry ( 4-9 )  on Tuesday night.

Head Coach Melinda Feltner presents Senior Kaison Ward a basketball for collecting over 1,000 rebounds for her career. 

Sophie Adkins had 18 points, Jada Patton netted 10 points, Kaison Ward added 9 points, Leandra Curnutte tallied 6 points, Abby Maynard chipped in with 4 points and Abby Nelson had 2 points. 

The Bulldogs hit 3 three pointers all by Ward and went 10 of 14 from the foul line. 

Head Coach Melinda Feltner presents Senior Leandra Curnutte for going over the 500 assist mark for her career. 

Boyd Co. 65 Lawrence Co. 38 ( Friday ) 

In the Semifinals of the Class 2A section 8 tournament the Lions eliminated the Dawgs. 

Kaison Ward led the Bulldogs with 9 points, Sophie Adkins tallied 7 points, Jada Patton and Hallie Adkins scored 6 points each, Addison Bloomfield netted 5 points, Leandra Curnutte added 3 points Abby Maynard chipped in with 2 points. 

Lawrence Co. hit 2 three pointers and went 10 of 13 from the charity stripe.

In the first round of the Class 2A section 8 tournament at Pike Central the Dawgs walloped the Hornets 

Sophie Adkins led the way with a game high 26 points, Kaison Ward added 9 points, Abby Nelson tallied 8 points, Leandra Curnutte netted 7 points, Jada Patton contributed 6 points, Hallie Adkins and Madison Artrip had 3 points each, Addison Bloomfield and Abby Maynard chipped in with 2 points each. 

Lawrence Co. hit 5 three pointers and went 7 for 7 from the foul line. 

The Bulldogs will host Floyd Central ( 4-10 )  in a key 58th District match-up at 6:00 on Friday evening.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… This part of the season is a grind. We have to keep working to get better. Friday is a huge district game. We will be working the next two days to get ready for them.

“…We have to come out with better effort and energy to beat them. I know our girls can do it,  we just have to keep working to get better.”
