DAWGS BOW OUT TO PIKEVILLE IN BOYS 15TH REGION TOURNAMENT

Pikeville, Ky — The Lawrence Co. Boys ( 24-8 ) were ousted from the 15th region tournament by Pikeville 76-65 on Wednesday at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. 

Andrew Bloomfield drives baseline for a basket in the 15th Region tournament Wednesday. 

Andrew Bloomfield led the Bulldogs with 20 points, Logan Ratliff hit 5 three pointers and finished with 19 points, Hayden Perry tallied 15 points including 3 three pointers, Luke Fetherolf added 7 points and Blake Marcum chipped in with 4 points. 

Logan Ratliff knocks down one of his 5 three pointers against Pikeville. 

Lawrence Co. hit 9 three pointers and went 6 for 6 from the charity stripe. 

Pikeville was led by Eli Johnson with 25 points, Charlie Fitzer and Carter Hurley had 17 points each, Ian Onslet 7 points Cole Slone and Heath Jarrell had 5 points each. 

The Panthers hit 8 three pointers and went 12 of 17 from the free throw line.

PHS 23 13 18 25 = 65 

The Panthers ( 22-4 ) will face Martin Co. in the first semifinal on Saturday night at 7:00 after the Cardinals beat Betsy Layne in the second game Wednesday 67-60.

Lawrence Co. loses four seniors but returns some nice talent in Hayden Perry, Luke Fetherolf, Gunnar Woods and Braxton Davis.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… It’s never fun to see a season like this come to an end. This group was a pleasure to coach and made every second of this season enjoyable. Their heart and effort allowed them to win 24 games and I am very thankful that I was able to be along for the ride.

“…To our seniors, I can’t thank you enough for your effort and leadership. Those qualities will carry you a long way in life. Thank you for everything!”
