Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner
COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Our kids have been great from day one. That loss stung last year but take nothing away from Paintsville we felt like we were the better team last year but in that night they were the better team. I know in the back of our kids minds it has been. We have lost to them the last two years.”
“… We went out today and took care of business and we have had a lot guys have great years and that is why we have had a great year. I hate to start naming names because I will leave some out but Austin Roe has caught every inning but two and Lucas Maynard to start the year probably wasn’t in our top three but he put in the work in the weight room in the offseason and has done everything that we have asked of him this year. The battle with Ratliff was a big moment in the game and Lucas kept throwing strikes and won the battle.”
“… It doesn’t matter who we play on Monday we are looking for one game winning streaks and that’s what I will tell our guys.”
Lawrence Co. Senior Lucas Maynard
SENIOR PLAYER’S COMMENTS
“… It feels great to beat Paintsville and set a school record for victories in a season is pretty special. I’ve always hated them and really think everyone in the Region does.”
“… I gave up one in the first but I knew the top of the lineup would come through. They have been great all year long with CJ, Roe, Jackson and Tyler. I know they are going to get runs so when I go back out there I just have to throw strikes. I had a great battle with Braxton Ratliff and finally struck him out. We have always been friends and to go 13 pitches was pretty cool. I just kept attacking the strike zone and it worked out for us.”
This was a true Team win. Everybody played an important part and in the end all the little parts came together for an important win. Couldn’t be prouder of this group of players one and all. They are really representing LCHS and the area well.
