Langley, Ky — Lawrence Co. ( 16-9 ) remained undefeated in 58th District action with an emphatic 81-51 road victory over Floyd Central ( 4-19 ) Thursday night.
The Dawgs raced out to a 11-0 lead before the Jaguars made it a contest with a 16-6 run to end the first quarter and trail 17-16.
In the second the two were even and went back and forth trading baskets before Floyd Central would take a 31-30 lead to the break.
In the third quarter the intensity from the visitors picked up and Dawgs played their best quarter of the year scoring 34 points on layups and three pointers caused by their suffocating defense and led 64-46 going to the final period.
In the fourth it was even once again as the Dawgs cleared the bench as Lawrence Co. improved to 4-0 in District play.
Tyler Maynard led the way with 22 points, Cody Maynard tallied 18 points, Trenton Adkins 17 points, Baden Gillispie 8 points, CJ Fairchild 6 points, Chase Sartin 5 points, Bryce Blevins 3 points, Lawson Baisden 2 points.
The Dawgs hit 7 three pointers and went 16-22 from the charity stripe.
Floyd Central was led by Ronnie Sammons with 17 points and Blake Slone with 16 points.
The Jaguars hit 3 three pointers and went 11-17 from the charity stripe.

The Cards completed the sweep of the Dawgs behind 45 points from Brady Dingess and Trey James to even their record at 12-12 on the year with the road victory.
Tyler Maynard led the Dawgs with 14 points, Trenton Adkins tallied 11 points, Chase Sartin 8 points, Cody Maynard 7 points, Alex Ratliff 6 points, Baden Gillispie 4 points and CJ Fairchild 2 points
The Bulldogs hit 9 three pointers and went 6-8 from the free throw line.
Dingess led the Cards with 24 points, James 21 points, Jordan Dalton and Braxton Maynard 5 points each, Parker Davis 4 points and Ethan Smith-Mills 2 points.
The Cards hit 2 three pointers and went 11 of 16 from the free throw line.

The Bulldogs will travel to Betsy Layne tonight with a chance to clinch the #1 seed for the upcoming District tournament.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… A lot of our points came from the defense in the third quarter which was probably out best quarter of the year. I challenge the team at halftime to sit down and guard and they did a great job of that. We got some easy baskets and makes things a lot easier for us.”
“… We played these guys six days ago right down to the wire and I told Coach Moore before the game that his guys always play hard and are not bummed that they have only won four games. You would not know that by their body language.”
“… I thought we played pretty well against Martin Co. on Tuesday but couldn’t get some shots to go down. They beat us early in the year pretty good and this time we played them much better.”
“… I like our team right now, I think we have gotten better since the first of the year. I mentioned that to our guys at the first of the year that I wanted them to get better each time out. We will have a challenge against Betsy Layne at their place. They are long and very athletic and they are playing very well right now, won five in a row I think. We have a chance to wrap up the number one seed against them which would be big for us.”
